Do We Truly Believe?
Do we truly believe that there will be a day of judgment? The answer to this question should be quite obvious. However, by observing the actions of some, one would perceive their answer to be "NO." Friends, if we would find ourselves on the side of those mentioned above, we need to heed the words of the apostle Paul when he said, "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad" (2 Cor. 5:10). There stands a tremendous need for man to "consider the way of that ant and be wise" (Prov. 6:6); that is, man needs to understand the inevitable judgment of humanity and then get busy, like the ant, in order to be prepared for that grand day (Heb. 5:8-9; Matt. 25:1-13).
Yet, in order for us to be prepared for that inescapable day, one must first understand that all men will be judged on that last day. This principle excludes no one (Rom. 14:12). In fact, Christ said, "before him shall be gathered all nations…" (Matt 25:32). Friends, no one can surmise in any way, shape or form that they will somehow avoid that day because of who they are or what they have done.
Secondly, if we are to be ready for that great day we all must perceive that those who are judged will be judged by Christ (Rom. 14:10-11). That is, Christ will sit on His throne on high and will render a verdict that is right (John 7:24) by using His Word as the standard of judgment (John 12:48). Therefore, it is imperative that each and every one of us should make sure we know what is found within His Word so as to be prepared to be judged by it.
Finally, if we desire to be prepared for that certain day we all must perceive that we will be evaluated according to that which we have done, whether it is good or bad. Many have assumed that God is unaware of certain things in our lives, however, we are told that "the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his doings" (Prov. 5:21). Therefore, nothing, which has not been repented of, will be exempt from our day of sentencing.
Friends, through inspiration, Paul made it very clear that there will be a day of judgment. And if God will be rendering to every man according to his ways (Ps. 62:12), then the man who is wise will consider his own ways and make the necessary changes so as to be prepared for that certain day. But will we?
