Global Warming? Don't Be Duped (Part II)
We must refuse to bow before the god of "Science"
The public is generally unaware of conclusions like these from those with expertise in the relevant fields because any criticism-regardless of how scientifically rigorous it may be-is simply not tolerated. Scientists like Christy face militant efforts to silence any debate on the issue (one IPCC dissenter even received a death threat). The Weather Channel's climatologist Heidi Cullen actually proposed that any broadcast meteorologists refuse to buy into the man-made global warming catastrophism is called "global warming deniers," a pejorative label akin to "Holocaust denier." Any opposition to adopting draconian measures to restrict CO2 emissions-which restrictions would have enormously harmful impact on the economy-now makes ones morality suspect. "Don't you care about the planet? About our children?" Oh, the shame. Politicians who dare express any doubts are especially subjected to scorn and contempt. Censorship. Intimidation. Vilification. Politization. This is not science. It's propaganda.
What many fail to understand, even in the church, is that it is not genuine science that is behind the global warming hype. If not, then what is? One major factor is money. The global warming movement is an entire industry-a multi-billion dollar one-and those involved in climate research have a vested interest in providing the desired "evidence" in order to keep the grant money flowing. Researchers whose studies do not support the polemic have little prospect of receiving any funding or maintaining any standing in the academic community.
But behind the dollars is the dogma. The stampeding of the public over climate change is driven by a racial anti-capitalist , and anti-globalization, anti-corporate ideology. It is being used to promote a socialist agenda and to justify government encroachment into every aspect of our lives. It has become the tool for opposing Western industrial culture in general, and especially what the radical left considers the Great Satan: the United States. Much of the sentiment behind global warming radicalism is anti-American. Sadly, it is also being used to block vital progress in developing countries, where the world's poorest people languish in need of the industrial development which is anathema to the climate police. The movement is also anti-human. In the radical environmentalist view which is at the heart of the global warming crusade, humans have no special place in creation. Man is the villain of the plot, an unplanned, unwelcome intruder and spoiler of the pristine environment. Preserving the environment from threats both real and imagined is therefore the highest good and takes precedence over human welfare. But the word of God tells us the Creator made the Earth for his crowning creature-man (Genesis 1:27-28). That does not justify recklessness. We are to be good stewards of the creation, but the Earth was made to be used by both God and man for man's benefit-not the other way around. By elevation the material creation above man, radical environmentalism is really a form of idolatry. Like Nebachnezzar, the priests of the global warming religion are demanding that we bow before their god-Mother Earth. And their "science"-actually, a selective and distorted misrepresentation of the facts-is being used to persuade us to prostrate ourselves in obeisance.
Especially alarming is the way our children are being indoctrinated. Some public schools are now showing students Al Gore's misleading propaganda piece, his Oscar winning film An Inconvenient Truth, which even some global warming enthusiasts are now criticizing for its embarrassing inaccuracies. The popular 2006 Disney film Happy Feet used cute little animated penguins to preach to kids how humans are endangering the Earth and its wildlife. Children are being scared into believing we must radically change our lifestyles or we'll soon be dead and the Earth a smoldering mass.
Equally unfortunate is the way some in the church feel we must join the campaign to curtail CO2 production, lest we be seen as unconcerned about the fate of mankind. According to The Christian Chronicle, last year 86 religious leaders of various denominations signed the Evangelical Climate Initiative, which identified global warming as a spiritual issue and urged the United States government to limit greenhouse emissions. Abilene Christian University President Royce Money signed the statement. At this point we can only imagine what a generation at ACU and other places are being taught or will be taught on the subject.
It will be a challenge to help other see that global warming fanaticism is not based on sound science, but on misguided activism and unbiblical ideology. As with the dogmatism of Darwinism which had led many to compromise the biblical record, we need to be sure that we and our children know how to discern the difference between true science, and "what is falsely called knowledge" (1 Tim. 6:20)

Current Concerns
Jurlean Warren is still battling several health issues at this time. She does have gall stones, but the doctors do not want to operate due to other
health problems. Jurlean will be seeing her cardiologist on Wednesday, May 23rd. Keep her in your prayers.
Rudy Sanchez has developed another kidney stone and is on pain medication until he can undergo another procedure to have it removed.
Marilyn Upshaw will be having an MRI done on her peripheral vision to help detect the reason for her frequently falling down. She requests our
prayers.
Joe and Gracie Mendoza, friends of Juan & Estella Morolez, have triplets, Michael, Andrew and Mia who are each suffering with health issues.
The more pressing concern is the possibility that Mia may have cerebral palsy.
Charles Watson received a good report on his EEG test and only has 30% blockage in his carotid artery.
Beulah Cox, Iola Cunningham's older sister is suffering from blood poisoning. She recently had back surgery which may have caused this serious
condition. Beulah lives in Pampa, TX. Iola has requested prayers for her sister.
