In God We Trust
With a variety of standards circulating throughout the brotherhood, it should be no surprise to see a vast number of conflicts occurring among our brethren. To combat this quandary, all of our brethren must reciprocate to being a God fearing, God respecting, and God trusting people once again (Eccl. 12:13,14). If you will remember, our faith was built upon our trusting in the promises of God (John 20:30,31; Heb. 11:1,6). In fact, the only way we can know of these great promises is because He has revealed them to us through His Holy Writ (Jude 1:3). However, to truly trust in God, we must accept, believe, and comply with His measure-the Bible (2 Cor. 10:12,13). Note the following reasons why the Holy Word should be our standard in life.
First, it is from God. Within the passage of 2 Timothy, chapter three, verse sixteen, we are told that "all scripture is given by inspiration of God..." The biblical term, "inspiration" literally means "God-breathed," or "from the mouth of God." In other words, the Bible is not the thoughts, intents, or ideas of man, but rather, the literal plenary Word of God, recorded in accordance to His divine will (2 Pet. 1:19-21).
Second, found within the Holy Scriptures are "...all things that pertain unto life and godliness..."(2 Pet. 1:3). We so desperately need the wisdom of God in our lives to guide us through every aspect of life (Prov. 3:5-7;1:7). And it is the Bible that offers both the physical and spiritual insight which will allow us to live in harmony with both God and our brethren. (1 Cor. 1:10).
Third, God's standard offers stability and peace, as opposed to chaos and an archy. Chaos and anarchy occurs when man rejects God's desires and seeks his own standard to live by (Jer. 10:23). However, we are told, "there is a way which seemeth right unto men, but the end thereof are the ways of death" (Prov. 14:12). Beloved, to have true peace, stability, harmony, and proper direction in our lives, we must adhere to the standard which offers these exact qualities. We should accept no other pattern for our lives other than the Word of God. For, without it, we are guaranteed disappointment. Let us get back to being people who truly trust in God!
