Success in most endeavors depends upon the individuals involved in it. Vacation Bible School is no exception. Our VBS, which concluded today, was a genuine success. It began with individual teachers who began planning for VBS in April. Many made outstanding contributions and deserve our recognition and thanks. On July 12, Steven Easlon, Alex and Ezekiel Martinez, Jeff Wood and Trinidad Wood joined David Vestal and myself in handing our approximately 200 flyers in the near neighborhood.

Our teachers, Sharon Bell and Diane Carver, Scot and Johna Straw, Maxine Newton and Glenda Hillis, Emma Ochoa and Debbie Marrs, Kellie Lane and Kathy Nunley, Christy Weakland and Sonia Wood, and LaDonna Chism and Bonnie Sorenson did an wonderful job of presenting lessons about the beginning days of the church. In addition to these teachers, they were numerous helpers to assist in the class activities.

Thanks to David Vestal and Allen Weakland who led singing in the pre--session. They certainly helped motivate everyone.

Several of the teens also helped by serving as guides for the students as they moved from one area to another. Thanks to Bill Butler who drove the van to OCS to help transport students and to Robbie Butler and Wilene Wright who coordinated the refreshments daily. I would like to also thank all those who brought cookies!

Success is measured in learning and I believe these students learned many important facts and concepts. While success is not measured in numbers, I thought the congregation might be interested in knowing how many were in attendance this week.

On Monday we had 83 students, 43 teachers and helpers for a total of 126.
On Tuesday we had 59 students, 41 teachers and helpers for a total of 100.
On Wednesday we had 59 students and 22 teachers and helpers for a total of 81.
